ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Two 21-year-olds were killed Thursday night after a BMW struck the back of the dirt bike they were riding along the Black Horse Pike.
The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. near 1600 North Albany Avenue along the Black Horse Pike.
According to officials, Baseem Taliaferro Jr. of Galloway was driving the dirt bike with passenger Yasmeen Williams of Egg Harbor City when the rear end of the bIke was hit.
Pieces of debris remained scattered at the scene as investigators worked to determine what led to the collision.
Taliaferro and Williams were thrown from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene. Their families told Action News that another pair of friends had been riding alongside them on a separate dirt bike.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office has identified the driver of the BMW, though investigators have not said whether charges will be filed.
Taliaferro's aunt, Amber Taliaferro, spoke to Action News on Friday afternoon.
"I'm still processing it for his mom, for my mom," she said.
She said the family is still mourning the death of Taliaferro's father two years ago.
"The bike was his way - that was his way - his dad loved bikes too. That was his way of getting out every day and putting a smile on his face," she said.
Amber Taliaferro described her nephew as bright, happy and full of potential. She said she believed he might have pursued a career as a professional photographer.
"I know he was gonna go somewhere. He was just that bright," she said. "Everything you would want in a kid. He was just happy all the time. He never gave us any issues. He enjoyed his life, just like his dad."
Williams' family did not wish to speak publicly.
The Atlantic City Police Department and the prosecutor's office continue to investigate the crash
