3-alarm apartment fire leaves over a hundred displaced in Gloucester Township, New Jersey

GLOUCESTER TWP, New Jersey (WPVI) -- Over 100 residents are without a home Saturday morning after a 3-alarm fire broke out inside an apartment complex in Gloucester Township, New Jersey.

The fire broke out just after 2 a.m. at the Autumn Ridge Apartment Complex located on the 1500 block of Little Gloucester Road.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, there was heavy smoke coming from the apartment building C.

First responders evacuated the building, which contains about 40 apartments and is home to more than 100 residents. All occupants are displaced and receiving help from OEM and The Red Cross, according to Gloucester Township Police.

Multiple agencies responded to the fire. It was placed under control just after 6 a.m.

Police tell us five people were injured in the fire, including one person in critical condition. The others are expected to be okay, including a firefighter who suffered minor burns.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
