Woman struck by van Vine Street Expressway EB

Police did not say why the victim was in the roadway at the time.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A woman was hit by a van on the Vine Street Expressway early Thursday morning.

It happened at 1:30 am. in the eastbound lanes of I-676 between the exits for 23rd Street and Broad Street, according to police.

Police did not say why the victim was in the roadway at the time.

She was conscious when she was transported to the hospital and the van that hit her stayed on scene.

Another person was struck and killed in a hit-and-run about half a mile away a short time later, in the westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway.

That incident happened just before 3 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Spring Garden Exit, shutting down I-76 EB for hours.

Police are asking for help identifying the victim, as well as the striking vehicle.

Another woman was also struck in a hit-and-run on I-95 near Walt Whitman Bridge/Packer Avenue Exit Wednesday night.

The woman was found lying in the roadway on I-95 southbound around 10:30 p.m.

She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officials say the woman lost control of the car and crashed into the median multiple times, disabling her vehicle in the left lane. Then, when she got out, she was struck by another vehicle

Police are also asking for help finding this striking vehicle.
