Barricade situation ends peacefully after standoff in Philadelphia's Lawncrest section

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police SWAT team pounded down a front door to end a barricade in the city's Lawncrest section Wednesday morning.

The suspect was inside a home on the 500 block of Adams Avenue around 2:20 a.m.

Police say the 25-year-old suspect was stopped by officers earlier in the 600 block of Mayfair Street, and that he fled on foot into the home after officers noticed he had a gun on him.

He was taken into custody around 3:35 a.m. and the weapon was recovered.

He is now being questioned by police.
