Cable from Ben Franklin Bridge falls onto I-95

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Police are on the scene of an accident at the I-95 off ramp under the Ben Franklin Bridge after a cable fell off the bridge and onto the highway.

It happened around noon Friday in the area of Race Street.

Reports say a construction cable came down across the roadway from the bridge and may have caused the accident.

So far, no word on injuries.

Traffic on southbound I-95 is down to one lane in the area of Race Street, and northbound lanes are completely blocked at this time.
