Delmarva Power says customers should expect to see higher rates starting in June due to an increase in electricity supply prices.
A utility filing with the Delaware Service Commission says customers could see a roughly 9% increase.
Households could end up paying an extra $14 more per month, starting June 1.
That amounts to $168 a year.
Delmarva Power says the increase is tied to higher electricity supply prices around the region.
In a statement, the company said it wants customers to know it does not generate electricity or control supply costs.
"These costs are driven by regional market conditions, including fuel prices and the balance of supply and demand," the statement reads.
The statement went on to say that the company is taking several steps to find "real, lasting solutions that increase energy affordability and positively benefit our customers."
State regulators will now review the company's request.
