Six Flags Great Adventure says new spinning launch coaster will break 6 world records

JACKSON TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Six Flags Great Adventure unveiled its latest coaster on Tuesday, promising that no two trips on the record-breaking thrill ride will be the same.

Bakunawa, named after the legendary sea serpent of Philippine mythology, will debut in 2027.

Standing 382 feet tall, Six Flags said it will rank among the five tallest roller coasters in the world, reaching speeds up to 100 mph.

"Guests will board the world's first free-spinning, floorless coaster trains that rotate naturally throughout the ride, ensuring no two experiences are exactly alike," Six Flags said.

The records Bakunawa will break include:

-World's fastest spinning coaster (100 mph)

-World's tallest spinning coaster (382 feet)

-World's fastest inversion (80 mph)

-World's longest stall inversion

-World's first floorless spinning coaster

-World's first upside-down launch

Six Flags said Bakunawa will serve as the "signature attraction" of the park's transformed Boardwalk area.
