VIDEO: Liberian invents own ebola gear

In Liberia, a young nursing student used her own ingenuity to help her family survive Ebola.

When Fatu Kekula's father, mother, sister, and cousin became ill, she couldn't find any open hospital beds for them.

So she became a one-woman Ebola hospital, isolating each family member in separate rooms.

And she cared for them while wearing a homemade hazard suit.

"I developed my own protective gear. I bought black plastic bag, plastic jacket, gloves, rimmed boots, long trousers, hair cover, mask to my nose, everything," Kekula said.
Fatu's cousin Alfred didn't pull through, but the rest did.

UNICEF heard about Fatu's trash-bag gear, and is now teaching the method to others.
