Man dead, woman injured in Parkside domestic violence incident

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man is dead and a woman is in the hospital after what police say was a domestic violence incident in Philadelphia's Parkside neighborhood.

It happened just before 11 p.m. along the 4900 block of Parkside Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a 32-year-old woman with facial injuries after being beaten.

She was taken to the hospital, where doctors also discovered a bullet lodged in her head. She's in stable condition.

While investigating, detectives found a 31-year-old man dead in an alley outside the home.

Police believe he was the woman's boyfriend, and that he assaulted her before turning the gun on himself.

Police say three young children, and another woman, who is a family member were in the home at the time.

Detectives say they are working with the family to piece together what happened.
