New details released about tentative deal between teachers union, Philadelphia School District

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia school teachers will vote on Thursday on their new contract deal.

Action News has found out more details about the terms the union reached with the school district in order to avoid a strike.

It includes three years of raises.

If members of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers ratify the deal, they will see a 3% salary bump on Monday and receive a $1,400 bonus on October 1.

There would also be 3% raises in 2026 and 2027.

The deal, reached Sunday, also includes paid parental leave.

The teachers' current contract was set to expire on August 31.

They had planned to walk off the job after Labor Day if no new deal was reached.

The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers represents about 14,000 teachers.
