Newark Liberty Airport passenger may have exposed others to measles

NEWARK, N.J. (WPVI) -- The New Jersey Health Department says some travelers who passed through Newark Liberty International Airport may have been exposed to measles.

A passenger with the disease was at the airport on Friday, December 12.

The person was in Terminals B and C all day.

Officials are trying to track down people who were likely exposed.

They also suggest that those who have not been vaccinated get an MMR shot.

Measles is highly contagious to those who have not been vaccinated.

Measles symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery red eyes, and a rash that usually appears between three and five days after symptoms begin.

The rash usually begins as flat red spots that appear on the face at the hairline and spread downward to the neck, torso, arms, legs, and feet.
