Parents deliver petitions to stop Philadelphia school cuts

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A group of Philadelphia parents delivered more than 1,000 signed petitions to Philadelphia City Councilmembers on Wednesday, urging them to prevent cuts to schools.

The parents from the group "Lift Every Voice Philly" gathered petitions from families in 95 schools.

Those petitions ask for a $75 million dollar investment to protect school staffing positions, and to stop enrollment-based cuts.

This effort is backed by a broad coalition of other city-based organizations and non-profits.
