PASSHE raising tuition, launching scholarship program

The cost of college is going up for thousands of Pennsylvania students for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education has approved its first tuition increase in years, raising in-state undergraduate tuition by $172 a semester.

The new tuition rate will be $4,169 per semester, or $8,338 for a full academic year.

The system includes universities like West Chester and Kutztown.

Officials are also launching the PASSHE Pledge, a scholarship program that helps eligible students receiving federal Pell and Pennsylvania State grants, cover their remaining tuition costs.
