PECO offering help to customers struggling to pay electricity bills

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- As the region deals with this sweltering heat, PECO is offering assistance to low-income customers struggling to pay their electricity bills.

Starting Monday, August 4, the utility company will offer one-time, $500 grants to qualifying households.

The program is funded with a one-time donation of $10 million from Exelon, the utility's parent company.

It will run from August 4 to December 31, or until funds run out.

Customers must owe overdue bills in order to qualify.
