PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's tree is glowing bright for the holidays outside City Hall.
Rick Williams, Cecily Tynan and Alicia Vitarelli kicked off the official lighting of the Visit Philadelphia Holiday Tree, powered by NRG, on Thursday night.
The evening included performances from superstar Ashanti, Grammy-winner Lalah Hathaway and Miss America Cassie Donegan.
The 60-foot concolor fir is draped with more than 6,000 multicolored lights, 100 meteor lights twinkling down the tree and the "North Star" atop the tree. It's a guiding light representing peace, hope, joy and prosperity for the city.
