DARBY, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Police say it appears a 14-year-old boy accidentally shot himself late Tuesday night in Darby, Delaware County.

Authorities said Wednesday morning that the teen had died.

Darby borough's police chief said investigators' belief the shooting was accidental is based on preliminary information.

An investigation into the circumstances of this shooting continues.

The teen's name has not been released.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Darby Terrace around 10:15 p.m.

A number of police officers and medics could be seen from Chopper 6.

The Action Cam was there as investigators took photos of the scene.
