School worker advocates for inclusion during Developmental Disability Awareness Month

NORWOOD, Pa. (WPVI) -- An employee at Norwood Elementary School is using Developmental Disability Awareness Month as an opportunity to send an important message about inclusion.

Carolann Hagarty was diagnosed with Autism as a child and now works as a recess aide at the school.

She is also a global messenger for Special Olympics.

Hagarty spoke to students about inclusion and Special Olympics during an assembly on Tuesday.

Her message: it is okay to be different.
