PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Students enjoyed a special performance at the Kimmel Center Tuesday.
The free "Jazz for Freedom" education program was put on by the Ensemble Arts Philly.
It featured music, spoken word, tap dancing and scatting.
Local musicians and teaching artists took the students on a journey through jazz history, from its birth in New Orleans to the flourishing jazz scene in Philadelphia today.
The program is designed to engage and inspire the next generation by connecting them with the arts.
