FALLS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WPVI) -- A New Jersey man is wanted in Pennsylvania after investigators say he assaulted an officer and led police on a 160-mile-per-hour chase down Route 1.
Shawn Wolfe, 39, is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing police.
"There was no reason this had to end up the way that it did," said Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney.

The encounter began around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Falls Township police say an officer saw a suspicious blue BMW parked at the Wawa on the 500 block of West Trenton Avenue.
"It had a tag on it that belonged to a different vehicle. When they approached, the driver opened the door and had a bunch of drugs on his lap," said Whitney.
An affidavit says police observed marijuana and a cigar on Wolfe's lap, and police asked him to get out of the car.
The officer tried to pull him out, and then tased him. Wolfe, however, got the car in reverse and allegedly hit an officer with the open door and then hit a police cruiser before taking off down Route 13, and then onto Route 1.
Officers began chasing Wolfe, who they say was driving down Route 1 so fast that officers chose to abandon the pursuit.
"Whenever you run at high speed, 160 miles per hour like this individual did, you're putting everybody at risk, including yourself," said Whitney.
Police say no one, including the officer who was hit, was seriously hurt.
But police say Wolfe, a Trenton resident, crossed over into New Jersey during the chase and is still on the run.
"There's an active warrant for your arrest, and the best thing for you to do is turn yourself in," said Whitney.
Wolfe is facing a number of charges including aggravated assault and fleeing police.
