California twins graduate top of high school class

RIALTO, Calif. -- When two California twins finish high school in a few days, they'll not only get their diplomas together, but they'll be graduating at the top of their class together.

Aaron Aranda will be valedictorian and his twin sister Natalie Aranda salutatorian of Carter High School.

"That was awesome," Aaron said. "I was very happy to see that she got it, because it's more special, because it's me and my sister."

The siblings have been on the principal's honor roll since fourth grade and maintained 4.0 G.P.As all four years of high school. They say they're thrilled to share their school's top honors.

"The fact that this is us ending together in the most ultimate sense. We'll be on stage speaking to the class together. That's actually pretty cool," Natalie said.

Aaron and Natalie tell Eyewitness News that they don't really compete with each other, but they motivate each other.

"We used each other to keep on track of how we're doing in school," Natalie said.

When high school ends, however, the pair will go their separate ways in college. Natalie will attend UCLA in the fall, studying to become a doctor, while Aaron is headed to the University of Laverne to focus on music.
