LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Authorities say they have ended their search for a man who jumped into the Schuylkill River to escape police in Lower Merion Township.
They have not said if the man was found.
It all began at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, when Lower Merion Police pulled a driver over near Hollow and River roads for a possible DUI violation.
The driver got out of the vehicle, ran to the water and jumped in.
Crews in boats searched the river overnight, as a Philadelphia police helicopter searched from the sky.
The search was called off sometime before dawn on Thursday.
