Camden County makes preparations for storms
A storm is set to hit the area even before Hurricane Joaquin comes close, so that's why officials in Camden County are getting ready.

LINDENWOLD, N.J. -- A storm is set to hit the area even before Hurricane Joaquin comes close, so that's why officials in Camden County are getting ready.

Whatever happens, people are getting ready.

"We are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best,' said Camden County Public Safety Director Robin Blaker.

Camden County public works employees are already getting equipment ready and clearing storm drains ahead of the storm.

At this point there isn't much they can do except wait and see.

"One of the things you worry about especially when you haven't had a lot of rain is the ground gets soaked and then you have the possibility of trees coming down," Blaker said.

Some in the area are still cleaning up from storm damage after straight-line winds wreaked havoc on some parts of south Jersey back in June.

"I panicked because we are still in the process of repairing. And to hear there is the possibility of damage is quite frightening," said Camden County Freeholder Michelle Gentek-Mayer.

Several community events are also being postponed with this incoming weather.
