MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- The defunct Granite Run Mall in Middletown, Delaware County along busy Baltimore Pike is getting a second life.

BET Investments sent Action News a few renderings Thursday of what will become a new development with a combo movie theater and restaurant along with a bowling alley, retail shops, and 400 apartments.

It will be called the Promenade at Granite Run.

Construction has already begun.

The theater, restaurant and bowling alley are expected to open in spring of 2018.

The apartments will become occupiable beginning in fall of 2018.

BET Investments tells Action News the apartment building's amenities will include a lounge BYOB wine tasting area, a Starbucks coffee café, covered garage parking with direct access to each apartment floor, two outdoor swimming pools, virtual spin and yoga classes, and more.

Last May, there were talks of the empty Delaware County mall being the set to a future Kevin Smith film - a sequel to 1995's cult hit "Mallrats" - but that never came to be.

Sears and Boscov's, the mall's two anchor stores, remain and will be a part of the new development.
