New Miss Black America crowned in Manayunk

MANAYUNK (WPVI) -- There's a new Miss Black America!

Brittany Lewis from Washington, DC was crowned Saturday night.

The pageant was held at the Venice Island Performing Arts Center in Manayunk.

It's now in its 49th year. It all began in 1968, during a time when African American women were still not allowed to compete in the Miss America pageant.
