Thousands of people packed the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Sunday for 81st Annual Pulaski Day Parade.

The celebration honors General Casimir Pulaski, a Polish nobleman who became the Father of the American Cavalry, aiding George Washington during the Revolutionary War.

The red and white of the Polish flag were proudly on display as folk dancers in traditional costumes joined marching bands and floats in a celebration of tradition.

Philadelphia is home to about 65,000 people of Polish descent, and for many, the parade was a way to connect with their native land's traditions... and pass them down to their children.
