PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Tim Tebow has agreed on a 1-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Monday afternoon.
"Welcome to the City of Brotherly Love, @TimTebow! #FlyEaglesFly," the Eagles tweeted along with a photo of the quarterback signing his contract.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Tebow flew into Philadelphia on Sunday night in time to be in attendance for the start of the Eagles' offseason program Monday.
Tebow will be paid the minimum salary, Schefter reports.
The 27-year-old quarterback worked out with the Eagles back in March.
The former Heisman Trophy winner was a first-round pick by Denver in 2010. He started 14 games for the Broncos and led them to a playoff victory in the 2011 season.
Tebow hasn't played in the NFL since 2012 with the New York Jets. He worked as a television analyst last year with the SEC Network and ESPN.
Tebow joins quarterbacks Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley, and G.J. Kinne already on Philadelphia's roster.
Tebow and Sanchez were teammates with the New York Jets.
The reaction to Tebow signing with the Eagles has been mixed.
"It'll be awesome. He's a great player. He's very clutch. He wins games," Seth Braunstein of Cherry Hill, N.J. said.
"I don't know what to think. I think Chip Kelly has made it confusing to give an idea on all these quarterbacks and where they're going. If I was to guess I would say he is going to use him in a trade," Paul Myers of South Philadelphia said.
Tebow will wear #11.
One local company is already cashing in on Tebow Time.
The Philly Pretzel Factory has created a Tebowing pretzel, recreating the newest Eagle's signature pose with dough and a little salt.
Shefter reports before signing Tebow, the Eagles first wanted to try to trade backup quarterback Matt Barkley. But when the team could not get enough in return, it decided to bring in Tebow anyway so that he could be present for the team's entire offseason program.
Eagles Coach Kelly has had one of the busiest offseasons in the NFL, bringing in Tebow, Bradford and running back DeMarco Murray while trading away Nick Foles, LeSean McCoy and allowing Jeremy Maclin to leave in free agency.
