Philadelphia 76ers guard Mac McClung put on an amazing show during the 2023 NBA All-Star dunk contest Saturday night in Salt Lake City.
McClung, who signed a two-way contract with the Sixers this week after spending time with the team's G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, secured the victory after a series of high-flying dunks. According to ESPN Stats & Information, he joins Spud Webb (1986) as the only players 6-foot-2 or shorter with three perfect scores in the event.
With the victory, McClung is the first 76ers player to win the dunk contest. The team and his newest teammate, Tyrese Maxey, were tuned in and celebrated McClung's skills.
McClung is no stranger to dunk contests, having won the BallisLife All-America Game Slam Dunk Contest in 2018. He starred at Gate City (Virginia) High school, where he brokeAllen Iverson's single-season and career scoring records. He went on to play at Georgetown and Texas Tech before declaring for the NBA draft in 2021.
With another dunk contest trophy secured, stars across social media congratulated McClung on an impressive outing.
The Sixers' Twitter account was pumped to praise its first slam dunk champion. The team's president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey, chimed in with a GIF from the movie "White Men Can't Jump."
More stars from around the NBA, including Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, offered their thoughts on McClung's incredible performance.
Even NFL players like Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson, Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby and more couldn't believe McClung's hops.
