Anyone looking at the official Arizona Diamondbacks Twitter account on Tuesday night might be a little bit confused at the amount of Mikal Bridges content being posted, considering Bridges plays in the NBA.
Trust us, there's a perfectly reasonable explanation.
Earlier this MLB season, when the Diamondbacks played the Philadelphia Phillies, Bridges, who plays for the Phoenix Suns, posted about how much of a Phillies fan he is. He and the team placed a bet on the outcome of the series, which Philadelphia ended up winning.
As a result, Tuesday is "Mikal Bridges Appreciation Day" for the Diamondbacks as they face the Phillies again. Planned celebrations for Bridges include a personalized jersey, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, fun facts about Bridges on the big screen, a celebratory Churro dog, and the Diamondbacks changing their Twitter and Instagram photos to that of Bridges, according to 98.7 Arizona Sports.
Oh, and it's also Bridges' birthday, so the entire stadium will sing "Happy Birthday" to him.
All in all, a pretty good payoff for Bridges. It's not all bad for the Diamondbacks, though -- at least they're celebrating someone who plays for a team in the same state.
