Mixed verdict after video shows stabbings inside Target store in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- A jury has returned a mixed verdict against a homeless man accused of stabbing a 16-year-old girl and several others at a Target store.

The Allegheny County jury on Thursday found 44-year-old Leon Walls not guilty by reason of insanity of attempted homicide in the stabbing of a man outside the store on March 25, 2013, although he was found guilty, but mentally ill, of aggravated assault in the same attack.

Walls was also found guilty but mentally ill of charges he then stabbed a 16-year-old girl inside the store who he used as a human shield while others tried to subdue him. The girl has recovered.

Walls' public defender had argued he suffered from delusions that he was in danger and being attacked.

He remains in the Allegheny County Jail until he's sentenced.
