TALLEYVILLE, Del. (WPVI) -- The arrival of a statue in New Castle County, Delaware is bittersweet for a 90-year-old man.
Joe Vattilana's family paid $50,000 for the statue now going up outside the Talleyville Fire Company.
Joe has served at the fire company for 70 years.
The bronze statue honors the company's fallen firefighters and his late wife Gladys.
She dedicated 30 years to the Ladies Auxiliary at Talleyville.
The statue traveled to two continents before coming home.
"This statue was sent to Milan, Italy. It took 100 days to make this bronze statue. The granite came from Africa," Joe Vattilana said.
The statue stands 4'11 - the height of Joe's late wife.
