YEADON, Pa. (WPVI) -- A delivery driver going about his normal day was gunned down outside his vehicle, and now his family is hoping you can help find his killer.

Thomas Childs' family remembers him as a kind man with a heart of gold.

His stepdaughter, Eileen Dolly, described him as having, "The biggest heart you could ever find, the best laugh, and we miss him terribly."

Childs' sister, Sharon Conroy, says, "He was just always there for everybody."

On Tuesday June 9th at about 3:45 a.m., Childs was getting an early start for a delivery to New York. He was by his truck on a loading dock at Ridgeway Industries along the 6200 block of Baltimore Avenue in Yeadon, Delaware County.

Sharon explains, "Someone came up behind him and shot him in the back for no reason at all."

Another driver caught a glimpse of the suspect.

"He saw this guy walking by who seemed to be putting something in his waistband. So he pulled a little farther into the complex and called the police," Sharon said.

That driver was able to give a description of the suspect to police, which yielded a composite sketch. He's described as a 22 to 24-year-old man, 5'4", about 180 pounds. At the time he had a slight mustache and was wearing a light gray hoodie.

Eileen tells us, "If he's going to do this to a 63-year-old defenseless man, he's going to it again."

The Citizens Crime Commission is administering a $16,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

All you have to do is call 215-546-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.

"We want this nightmare over," Eileen said.

And Sharon tells us, "If people would just imagine that this horror would happen to somebody they loved that they would certainly want justice and they would want to get this person off the street."
