HADDONFIELD, New Jersey (WPVI) -- The late Dorcas Reilly, considered to be the 'Grandmother of the Green Bean Casserole,' has left a legacy that her family is keen on continuing.
Reilly, a former employee of The Campbell's Company, worked in what's now known as the Campbell's Test Kitchen in the mid-1900s.
She became an ambassador for the recipe, which has been utilized and remixed by families across the nation over the past 70 years.
Reilly unfortunately developed Alzheimer's disease and passed away in 2018.
That's when her family became friends with TV host and cookbook author, Chadwick Boyd.
Boyd recently collaborated with the family to create the 'Green Bean Casserole For Good' campaign. Through it, they are selling t-shirts to raise funds for The Bates-Stoklosa Family Legacy Fund, which was founded in honor of Dorcas Reilly.
The fund supports students in the fields relating to Family and Consumer Sciences.
Dorcas Reilly's widower, Tom Reilly, is also a part of the celebration. This year not only marks the 70th anniversary of the recipe, but also marks Tom's 100th birthday on Christmas Day.
Tom was a merchant mariner who proudly served in WWII and retired from the Navy after 25 years.
