BERLIN, New Jersey (WPVI) -- 'Our Community Salutes' delivers a special kind of pomp and circumstance for those who are stepping out of high school and right into the military.
The organization was started in South Jersey by Army veteran Kenneth Hartman, who was working on the Cherry Hill School Board in 2009.
He wanted to create an event to recognize students, offer support to parents, and provide resources for their families.
'Our Community Salutes' has grown into a nationwide campaign with dozens of ceremonies in various states each year.
Recently, one such event was held at Lucien's Manor in Berlin, New Jersey. Over 100 enlistees were given a warm welcome by military personnel, veterans, community leaders, and more.
Watch the video above to see what it meant to students who attended.
