Heavy rains possible cause of Wilmington building collapse, officials say Police and fire officials say heavy rains may have caused a building to collapse in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Police and fire officials say heavy rains may have caused a building to collapse in downtown Wilmington, Delaware.



The building in question is home to a property management company, located on the 900 block of North Walnut Street.

It happened sometime Friday morning before anyone arrived for work.



Sources tell Action News crews were working on a lot next door, and the wet weather may have caused the ground to weaken.


No injuries were reported.
