WILMINGTON (WPVI) -- A high school student is in custody after he reportedly brought a handgun to school in Wilmington.
Sixteen-year-old Delvis J. Valladares is facing multiple charges including possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed, deadly weapon.
The discovery was made around 11 a.m. on Tuesday at John Dickinson High School in the 1800 block of Milltown Road.
Police said Valladares, a 10th-grader, was in a bathroom when he was seen showing other students a handgun.
The incident was reported to the school's administration by another student, police said.
A .25 caliber handgun, police said, was found during a search of Valladares' book bag.
He was arraigned at the New Castle County Family Court and then committed to the Ferris School For Boys for lack of $7000 secured bond.
No ammunition for the gun was located, police said.
The high school was not placed on lockdown.
