WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- The Wilmington Police Department is now accepting applications for its 96th Police Academy.
The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014.
The department is also hosting a career day on Saturday, June 21st from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. where those interested can apply in person at William T. McLaughlin Public Safety Building located at 300 North Walnut Street in Wilmington.
Minimum qualifications:
-Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
-Applicants must be a U.S. citizen.
-Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED.
-Applicants must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Military applicants must provide a copy of their DD Form 214 showing an honorable discharge.
Applicants must also undergo and pass a variety of tests and interviews that are required for the position of police officer.
The review process includes a physical ability test, standardized written test, staff interview, medical and psychological evaluation, polygraph examinations, and a drug screening.
