Missing mom's apartment searched

TRENTON, N.J. - January 15, 2008 Amy Giordano was last seen on surveillance video two days before police say her boyfriend abandoned their toddler at a Delaware hospital and fled to Italy. On Tuesday police were once again searching Giordano's apartment.

7 months after 27-year-old Amy Giordano disappeared from her apartment above a nail shop in Hightstown investigators are still trying to find out what happened to her. Detectives from the local police, state police forensic unit and the Mercer County Prosecutor's office returned to Giordano's apartment, which still held her belongings when she went missing in June. Trace evidence of blood was found there soon after.

The focus today was looking for any additional blood, specifically on floorboards, molding and trim.

You'll recall Amy Giordano's 11-month-old son Michael was found abandoned in a parking lot in Delaware on June 9th. Police later charged Giordano's married boyfriend and the baby's father, Rosario DiGirolamo with abandoning the child. DiGirolamo fled to Italy for a time and later returned to face those charges. His wife knew nothing about his secret relationship with Amy Giordano, who has not been seen or heard from since June 8th when she talked to her 6-year-old son who lives in New York.

DiGirolamo remains a person of interest in the case.

After spending hours inside the apartment law enforcement sources tell Action News that nothing substantial was recovered. The investigation into Amy Giordano's disappearance continues.
