Camden Co. school aide admits to crime

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - January 29, 2008

Fifty-eight-year-old Patricia Johnson of Atco pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of conspiring to steal thousands of dollars in field trip money.

Prosecutors say Johnson and the former principal at H.B. Wilson Elementary School conspired to pocket more than $14,000 by tricking parents and students into paying for outings that were actually paid for by the school district.

Under a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend a sentence of three to five years in state prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 22.

Charges are pending against the former principal, 66-year-old Michael Hailey of Delran.
