He's in a cast up to his knee. Gabriel says on his Web site he's skied for 50 years but he has been snowboarding for a number of years.
He decided to go back to skis because he was slowing his friends down. He hit a rock on a steep part and he heard a "loud snap." He skied down a bit farther, which he calls "a bit stupid."
He had to be taken to medical help by snowmobile.
He says he's been spending a lot of time in hospitals and has had surgery, although he doesn't go into specifics.
He says he's on crutches and hasn't had to do that since he broke his other leg jumping off a stage 35 years ago.
