Last month, Nutter cut 21 million dollars from Safe and Sounds budget that was earmarked by the Street administration.
Nutter said that money wasn't approved by city council.
He instructed Safe and Sound to reduce their budget while preserving vital services to children.Instead, the organization sent letters to 10 beacon centers, telling them they would close by April 30th.
The mayor said officials with Safe and Sound will have to find the funds within their budget to fund the programs, without cutting services. He also promised the city will also find money within its budget to aid the programs.
Nutter said an assessment team will meet with Safe and Sound officials to discuss alterations needed within the budget.
