Ana's father, Miguel Matias, was arrested on murder and manslaughter charges after he called 911 Saturday morning and claimed he had strangled her the night before because he was upset with her for text-messaging a boy.
Police say Matias has had a history of emotional problems and was institutionalized after trying to set a car on fire with his children inside in Pennsylvania.
Matias is being arraigned via closed-circuit television from his bed at Bellevue Hospital Center on Friday. The name of his attorney is not immediately available.
