Reward offered in bowling alley murder

MINQUADALE, Del. - March 3, 2008 Investigators at New County Police Headquarters are searching for a killer, but they need the public's help. Police feel certain someone saw something in the crowded bowling alley that can crack this case.

On Monday, seniors bowled at First State Lanes in Edgemoor, but late Saturday night, a younger, rowdier crowd was at the bowling alley. There were 50 to 100 people in all and police say that is when two young men got into a physical fight.

"During that fight, another person brandished a handgun and fired into the fight striking our victim in the torso area," Cpl. Trinidad Navarro of the New Castle County Police.

Navarro says 19-year-old Stephon Owens of Wilmington died shortly after the shooting here.

Police hope surveillance video will lead them to the gun toting person who interrupted the fight, killing Owens and putting dozens of innocent people at risk.

The bowling alley and the victim's family are offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
