Pa. Catholic school closed due to sickout

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - March 14, 2008 A spokesman for the Diocese of Scranton says enough teachers have called in sick that the school cannot supervise the students adequately.

The Scranton Diocese Association of Catholic Teachers says the sickout is to call attention to the diocese's refusal to recognize the union.

The union had previously organized a sickout at Holy Redeemer High School in Wilkes-Barre.
