Grandparents sued over girl's drowning

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - April 30, 2008

The wrongful-death suit was filed after 20-month-old Marissa Fishman died six years ago in the indoor pool at the Talleyville area home of Richard and Barbara Longwill. The pool area was being renovated and the door was apparently left open.

The attorney for the Longwills say they were not baby-sitting. The child's mother had moved to their home because of a dispute with her husband.

The attorney representing contractor Vincent Rizzo says Rizzo was not the primary contractor for the pool area and was not working on the pool the day the girl died.

Plaintiff attorney Jim Waldenberger says Barbara Longwill was planning to host a party and had directed Rizzo to move some furniture to the pool area, though attorneys disagree about who may have left the door open.
