On Monday afternoon police were called to Brookside Elementary School for a report of a physical abuse complaint. There the responding officer met with the 7-year-old and a 9-year-old, both with bearing bruises. Both victims were later transported to the A.I. Hospital for Children where they were treated and released.
Police say their investigation has revealed that Jenkins beat the girls with a belt Sunday night.
Jenkins was charged with two counts of assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She has been arraigned and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
She has been ordered to have no contact with the girls pending a Family Court hearing.
