Remains of Vietnam War airman found

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - May 27, 2008

Lt. Col. Henry P. Brauner of Franklin Township, Somerset County, was 36 years old when his AC130A gunship was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. He and 13 others were killed.

Brauner's dog tags and remains of several other crew members were discovered during an excavation mission in 2005 and 2006, and several of the identities were confirmed Tuesday.

Brauner was born in New Brunswick and moved to Franklin Township as a teenager. He graduated from Rutgers University and was a career officer who had volunteered to go to Vietnam.
