New Castle County Detectives are questioning a 21 year old Newark man in connection with a deadly triple shooting.

The dead man has been identified as Dewaine Brown Jr. a 19 year old whose address is in the 200 block of Chestnut Crossing Drive in Newark.

The identities of the other victims are being withheld; however their ages and address have been confirmed. The victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds is a 20 year old male who resides in the Kimberton area. The victim who was shot in the arm and transported to the Christiana Hospital in a privately owned vehicle is a 25 year old male from the Swanwyck community in New Castle. Both victims are listed in stable condition.

Police say the victims had engaged an earlier altercation with another group of male subjects prior to the shooting.

Police were called to the Home Properties of Newark Apartments (formerly Chestnut Crossing Apartments) just after midnight for a report of a male subject who had just been shot.

They found one man suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso in the area of 148 Chestnut Crossing Drive.

While investigating the incident, police learned of a second shooting victim who was in the area of 201 Chestnut Crossing Drive, later identified as Brown. He too had suffered gunshot wounds to the torso.

The third victim showed up at Christiana Hospital in a privately owned vehicle. He is being treated for a gunshot wound to the upper body.
