Bird dropping facials

NEW YORK CITY - June 10, 2008

Shizuka Bernstein says, "We call it geisha facial and then we use Nightingale droppings."

Yes. Nightingale droppings.

The droppings come in powdered form after having been sterilized using ultraviolet light.

The powder is mixed with water and then brushed on the skin. The spa owner says Nightingale droppings have a natural enzyme to break down dead skin cells, and exfoliate the skin.

She says Geishas in Japan used it to remove makeup and brighten and heal their skin.

According to the spa's web site, the treatment lasts just under an hour and will set you back just under $200.
