Bandits repeatedly hitting stores

PHILADELPHIA - June 26, 2008

Investigators say the culprits work as a team, with one of them waiting outside while the other goes inside to rob the stores. So far, they have robbed Sunoco A-Plus stores a total of 9 times since March. Usually the robbers get away with a small amount of money, according to police, but in one instance the bandits got a total of $14,000.

The men have robbed 3 different Sunoco stores

  • 6800 block of Rising Sun Avenue (3 times)
  • 5700 block of Roosevelt Boulevard (4 times)
  • 5900 block of Wissahickon Avenue(2 times)

Police say the men should be considered armed and dangerous. In each instance they've used a black handgun to threaten the clerk and demand money. The robbers usually hit early in the mornings or late at night, when there are fewer people around to witness the crimes.
