Ben Franklin & Betsy Ross tie the knot

PHILADELPHIA - July 3, 2008 At this wedding, the bride chose a colonial style gown over the traditional white, which seemed as appropriate as the couple's rings engraved with a kite and key and stars and stripes.

But, the story of Ben and Betsy started long before Mayor Nutter pronounced them husband and wife. No, not that long ago, but a while back Linda asked Ralph to appear as Franklin at a friends wedding.

He hesitated but then agreed. Archbold said Wilde was very persuasive and before he knew it, he was falling in love.

So, on the day before this nation's birthday, the couple exchanged vows in front of hundreds at independence hall.

After the couple said "I do," the Philly Pops played their annual concert, and the newlyweds rode in a horse drawn carriage to their reception at City Tavern. There was even talk of a honeymoon in Paris.

But, even though Paris sounds lovely, the two agreed there's no place like home.
